Social Engineering is a common hack technique whereby hackers obtain information about u online. Ranging from personal chat to creating a website that requires submitting sensitive information.
We cannot be fully secured from this as most of them comes in form of opportunities e. G grants scholarships job opportunities. But there are few steps you can take to secure yourself.

Averagely it is assumed that major users, uses the same password for all platforms ranging from their Gmail account Facebook Twitter etc.
Imagine someone creating a website that you need to register to enjoy their services, in the process of registration you have to submit your email address and your password. Voila full access.
What the hacker does is just go to Gmail.com enter the email address and the password used to register on the website.
If it happens that you used the same thing then 🖊🖊
all your social accounts is gone, because with access to your email account. Even if other accounts including your bank profile is not using the Same password. The hacker simply click forget password and reset the password using your email address.

But it's best practice to use different password especially when signing up on untrusted websites.

This occurs when another person puts a call through to the network provider claiming they own ur number and provide relevant information to retrieve your sim card. Yes it's possible.
Although most Network providers has made it mandatory to a reasonable extent that the sim owner should come physically to their office to retrieve the line. But the Gist is that's why they are hacker's they would have obtained relevant information from you thru social engineering overtime. Retrieve your line and take over everything.

A subdomain is a  url attached to another web url
e.g mobile.facebook.com
In this case Facebook is the domain while mobile is a sub domain.
🤓What's is the Gist
Imagine an hacker owning a website called accounts.com
And you recieved a message to update your bank details due to cbn directive on
gtbank.accounts.com

You will be tricked you are asked to update your account by your website whereas its an hacker somewhere in its room.
The gtbank is a sub domain of accounts.com
So scrutinize all links very well before you follow them

This last one is for job and opportunity seekers. Most of those online jobs posted only want Ur data with nothing to offer. Kindly do a background check on the organization. (If you are lucky that they have not created fake trail [discussion for another day]) you will find out the truth.
Additionally any government organization website mostly end with. gov.ng e.g npower.gov.ng
If it's not that don't even consider trying it. There is high chance it's fake.
